Autumnal walk home, and a few quick photos….

I had to go into the university for some work today, so decided to walk for a change instead of cycling. This meant i could take a more casual journey home. With a compact in the pocket then there’s always the chance for a few snaps on the way. That’s the great thing about walking, you have more time to see things that may be of interest. Cycling is OK, but you travel a little faster, and have to be careful on the roads, such as look where you’re going and watching the traffic, so you do miss more. Then there’s the car, handy to get to places, but not so good for just grabbing a camera and getting a quick shot when you spot something of interest. Buses and trains are similar as the world just flashes by……..

So walking is by far the best way to travel if you want to get a few photos. As the old song, The Walk Of Life by Poi Dog Pondering says, “Everything looks better when it goes by slow!” and i do love wandering around, both day and night with a camera in hand. In fact night is great as you get such different lighting. Anyway, here’s a few shots taken that hopefully capture something of the feel of Autumn to those who walk.

A small park near the university

Basketball hoop in the play area looking bleak in the cooling Autumn days.

A path on the walk home.

Wonderful leaf covered steps.

About PurpleT

Much of my photography is art and documentary. I try to capture a scene as i see it in my mind, whether that be black and white, colour, or somewhere in between. I try to make an interesting, and/or attractive image from what i see around me, not just what would be expected, but also subjects that would be seen boring, mundane, or ugly by many. But they all have an interest as art photography. I have also spent nearly twenty years working as a life model, then the human figure in art is very important to me, and is something i try to bring into my work at times.
