Abstract figure photography (With an iPhone)

For a while now i’ve been wanting to make some abstract photos from the nude figure. As i wanted an old rough look to the photos i decided to have a try with the iPhone. I know the Hipstamatic camera app will give the right general effect, especially with just a little basic editing, i mostly use Photogene. Having also downloaded CameraBag recently, i felt two filters in there could also work well, again with just a little basic editing.

I’m quite pleased with the way these have come out, and i plan to now make more using both the iPhone, and my DSLR.

Abstract Body

This has so far confused people quite a lot......and no, it's not my bum...

Abstract Body

This one is a little easier to work out.

Although it's obvious this is a part of my chest, and so therefore my arm alongside, i really like the slightly out of focus look mixed with the old fashioned effect and toning.

Abstract Body

This one has also caused some confusion... I really like the way the hair has a very harsh, and not very pretty look about it.

Again i really like the harsh look to this one. It's not as confusingly abstract, but i think the composition works well.

About PurpleT

Much of my photography is art and documentary. I try to capture a scene as i see it in my mind, whether that be black and white, colour, or somewhere in between. I try to make an interesting, and/or attractive image from what i see around me, not just what would be expected, but also subjects that would be seen boring, mundane, or ugly by many. But they all have an interest as art photography. I have also spent nearly twenty years working as a life model, then the human figure in art is very important to me, and is something i try to bring into my work at times.
