Caroline Lucas announced today that she would be standing down as leader of the Green Party in September, so will not be looking for re election for a second term.
Caroline joined the Green Party in 1986. In 2007 the party made the decision to establish a leader and deputy, paving the way for Caroline to become the Green Party’s first leader.
In May 2010, Caroline made history by becoming the Green Party’s first representative in Westminster by winning the Brighton & Hove seat. A position she is proud of, and remains fully committed to.
